Walailak University together with the community around the university organized the annual Songkran Festival 2023

Walailak University together with the community around the university organized the annual Songkran Festival 2023 to continue the good traditions of Thailand. Pouring water on the elders‘hands to pray for blessings, strengthening good relations between the university and surrounding communities.

On April 10, 2023, the Center for Cultural and Sports Promotion Walailak University along with the communities of village No. 6, Hua Taphan Sub-district and village No. 8, Thai Buri Sub-district, Tha Sala District, jointly held a Songkran festival pouring water on the elders’hands to pray for blessings in order to carry on the good traditions of Thailand that creates unity of people in the community as well as to conserve and carry on arts and culture in part of Songkran festival traditions. Then event was organized at the main hall of the Architecture and Design Building, Walailak University. The atmosphere was lively with a large number of participants including administrators, faculty members, staff, students, distinguished guests and community leaders.

Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, Acting President of Walailak University, said Walailak University has realized the value and importance of building good relations between communities. Therefore, the activity “Walailak Songkran Continuing the Tradition” was held, which is considered a good tradition of Thai people that has been inherited for a long time. It is a cultural heritage that reflects the prosperity of Thailand and the pride of Thai people.
