On May 10, 2025, Walailak University held the closing ceremony for the 41st Thailand University Staff Sports Competition, “Tumpang Games.” Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, presided over the ceremony, joined by Associate Professor Chusit Pradapphet, Chairman of the Sports Executive Committee of Thailand University Staff (KMT), executives, and staff, at the Patthammaporn Meeting Room, 9th Floor, Building B, Walailak University Medical Center Hospital.
The initial part of the closing ceremony featured a parade and a summary report of the results of the 41st Thailand University Staff Sports Competition for 2025 by Associate Professor Dr. Urai Jareprapal, in her capacity as Chairperson of the Organizing Committee. She highlighted that over the 10-day period, Walailak University hosted competitions in a total of 17 sports, with over 59 institutions participating from across the country. The results showed that Mahidol University claimed the overall gold medal title of “Tumpang Games” with 108 gold, 83 silver, and 71 bronze medals. Coming in second was Chiang Mai University with 49 gold, 48 silver, and 57 bronze medals, followed by Khon Kaen University in third with 40 gold, 22 silver, and 33 bronze medals. This marks another championship victory for Mahidol University in the Thailand University Staff Sports Competition, as stated by Associate Professor Dr. Urai.
Subsequently, Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong presided over the handover ceremony of the host flag to Assistant Professor Dr. Chaiwat Promjittipong, Acting Vice President for Planning and Social Strategy at Srinakharinwirot University (SWU), who accepted the flag as the representative host for the next Thailand University Staff Sports Competition.
Assistant Professor Dr. Chaiwat revealed that Srinakharinwirot University is ready to host the next competition, aiming to create an event that will promote good health among staff across Thailand, helping them avoid the state of “Aging”. This condition, resulting from the decline in physical and mental performance, is often found in staff who work continuously without time for exercise. Therefore, this is the main goal that Srinakharinwirot University aims to push for maximum benefit to staff across all institutions, said Assistant Professor Dr. Chaiwat.
The 41st Thailand University Staff Sports Competition, “Tumpang Games,” marks the third time Walailak University has hosted the event. Previously, the university hosted twice under the name “Walailak Games” in the 25th competition in 2006 and the 31st competition in 2012.
