On Thursday, May 28, 2026, personnel from the Division of Correspondence and General Affairs of Walailak University proudly participated in the “Thai Identity to the Global Stage” campaign under the theme “Proud to Wear Thai Across the Nation.” The activity aimed to preserve, promote, and celebrate the value of Thai textiles and traditional Thai attire as an enduring part of Thai society and cultural heritage.
This initiative aligns with the campaign guidelines established by the Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Cultural Office, which encourages public organizations and various sectors to showcase Thai identity through traditional dress. The campaign particularly emphasizes the daily use of Thai fabrics and local textiles to foster pride in the nation’s cultural heritage while supporting local economies through the purchase and use of products created by local weavers and community entrepreneurs. In support of this initiative, Walailak University, through the Center for Student Promotion and Development, has introduced a university-wide dress campaign entitled “Walailak United in Wearing Thai Across the 9,000-Rai Campus.” University executives, faculty members, and staff are encouraged to wear Thai traditional attire, Thai fabric outfits, or local cultural dress every Tuesday and Thursday. The campaign seeks to cultivate pride in Thai identity while reinforcing the university’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage alongside its pursuit of international excellence. On this occasion, the Division of Correspondence and General Affairs, led by Mrs. Sophida Phatthong, Head of the Division, has continuously supported and promoted the campaign among staff members. Personnel enthusiastically participated by wearing a variety of Thai fabrics and traditional garments that reflect local identity, cultural beauty, and the wisdom of Thai craftsmanship.
The participation of the division’s personnel demonstrates a strong commitment to preserving Thai cultural values and promoting awareness of the importance of national heritage. It also reflects Walailak University’s vision of fostering cultural preservation while advancing academic excellence and sustainable international development. Through collective participation, the university continues to strengthen its role as a learning organization that values both cultural identity and global engagement.
