Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong accepted the royal command to appoint him as the president of Walailak University, declaring that he will perform his duties with honesty and integrity, adhering to the principles of good governance, and creating progress for Walailak University and the country.
Today (31 Oct 2018) at 9:00 a.m., Walailak University organized a ceremony to accept the royal command to appoint Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong to hold the position of president of Walailak University for another term. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Suwat Chanthasuk, Deputy Governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, Mr. Thirachai Chemnasirin, Chairman of the University Council, the University Council Committee, executives, personnel and students of Walailak University, heads of government and private sectors, distinguished guests and the media at the Main Auditorium, Thai Buri Building.
The ceremony began with a procession carrying the royal command to appoint the president of Walailak University. Entering the ceremony area at the main auditorium, Thaiburi Building, Associate Professor Dr. Suwit Wutthisutthimethawi, Vice President, read the royal decree appointing the president of Walailak University. Then, Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong paid his respects in front of the portrait of His Majesty the King, opened the flower tray to offer royal offerings, and paid his respects and received the royal decree in order.
On this occasion, Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong expressed his gratitude, saying, “On the occasion that His Majesty the King has graciously appointed me to hold the position of president of Walailak University for the second term, effective from June 30, 2024, I am deeply grateful for His Majesty’s kindness and consider it an utmost honor for myself and my family.
I am well aware that holding the position of president of Walailak University is an important duty for the development of national education. It takes a great deal of knowledge, ability and dedication to ensure that Walailak University provides maximum benefits to students, the education system and the country.
Including developing Walailak University into a quality university, a leading research university in the country that provides education in accordance with international standards, so that Walailak University graduates are quality graduates who are accepted by society, in accordance with the intention of the university’s founding.
With the immeasurable grace of His Majesty the King who has graciously appointed me to the position of President of Walailak University, I swear that I will perform my duties with loyalty, honesty and integrity, and adhere to the principles of good governance, with the national interest as the main consideration, in order to be an academic organization that creates progress for Walailak University, local society and the country forever.”
