Dr. Kitti Rattanasombat has assumed the position of Acting Director of Walailak University Medical Center. He emphasized his commitment to utilizing his potential, knowledge, and abilities to continue the hospital’s development policy, aiming to be a primary healthcare provider for the seven provinces of Upper Southern Thailand.
On February 13, 2025, Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, along with Associate Professor Dr. Warit Jachit, Vice President overseeing the Medical Center, welcomed and presented a bouquet of flowers to Dr. Kitti Rattanasombat, former Director of Tha Sala Hospital, on the occasion of his official appointment as the Acting Director of Walailak University Medical Center. The handover ceremony took place at the Hua Taphan Meeting Room, Chulabhorn Vejawat Building, Walailak University Medical Center.
The event was graced by the presence of Phra Kru Woraditthanu Rak, Abbot of Tha Sala District, and distinguished guests including Mr. Siriphat Phatthakun and Mr. Kaisorn Wisitwong, former Governors of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province; Dr. Nopporn Chuenklin, former Director of the Government Pharmaceutical Organization and former Provincial Health Officer of Nakhon Si Thammarat; Dr. Paripon Chulajerm, Provincial Health Officer of Nakhon Si Thammarat; heads of government agencies; executives, medical personnel, and staff from various public and private organizations in Tha Sala District and Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. Over 500 attendees, including the Head of the General Administration and Records Division, participated in the ceremony and presented congratulatory bouquets.
Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, stated that Walailak University Medical Center began providing pilot outpatient services on January 24, 2017, and moved to its main building on November 15, 2021. Full-fledged services, including inpatient care with 426 beds, commenced on January 24, 2022. The Sri Thammaracha Foundation added 114 beds for monks, bringing the total to 540 beds. The primary objective is to serve as a medical school and clinical training center, aiming to provide tertiary healthcare services. In 2024, the center served 240,000 patients, and in 2025, the goal is to exceed 300,000 patients. Equipped with modern technology and a team of 104 expert physicians, the center is ready to provide healthcare services to the people of Nakhon Si Thammarat and Upper Southern Thailand.
We are grateful and delighted that Dr. Kitti Rattanasombat has agreed to assist in managing Walailak University Medical Center. This is a matter of great joy for the Walailak community and the people of Nakhon Si Thammarat, as we have gained a professional with extensive experience, and importantly, a native of Tha Sala with strong ties to the local community.
