On October 23, 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Sarawut Palibhoh, Vice President for Academic Affairs (Health Sciences) of Walailak University, led a team of administrators and personnel from the School of Agricultural Technology and Food Industry and the School of Law to participate in the wreath-laying and homage ceremony before the Royal Statue of King Rama V. This ceremony was held to dedicate merit to His Majesty King Chulalongkorn the Great on the anniversary of his passing (October 23, 2025), and to commemorate his great benevolence towards the Thai people.
The event took place at the Royal Monument Plaza in front of the Nakhon Si Thammarat City Hall. The Governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat presided over the ceremony, which was attended by heads of government agencies, judges, military personnel, police, private sector representatives, citizens, students, and mass public organizations.
On the same occasion, Dr. Mongkol Teerananon, Vice President for University Relations and Development, along with Associate Professor Dr. Worawut Somsak, Dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences, Clinical Professor Dr. Suwichai Rojanasthien, Dean of the Akkharachakumari Veterinary College, staff, and students, also participated in the official state ceremony for King Chulalongkorn Memorial Day at the assembly hall of Thasala School, Thasala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.
The ceremony was held to express loyalty and commemorate the great royal grace of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn the Great, King Rama V. He dedicated himself to performing countless royal duties and governed the kingdom with stability and peace. His achievements included the reform of state administration, the financial and fiscal systems, education, and public utilities, leading the country toward development, progress, and modernization. He also abolished the systems of slavery and serfdom (Phrai), and integrated Thai and international principles of governance to rule the kingdom, guiding the nation through danger and firmly maintaining its sovereignty and independence. His ingenuity and honor are recognized by international nations, earning him the royal title of “Somdet Phra Piya Maharaj,” which means “The Great King Who is Beloved by the People.”
