On October 27, 2025, Walailak University organized a ceremony to express condolences to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother. Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, presided over the ceremony, along with Vice Presidents, Assistant Presidents, Deans, Center Directors, Section Chiefs, and university staff, all joining together to express their profound and immeasurable gratitude for Her Majesty’s royal benevolence. The ceremony was held at the Central Hall, 2nd floor, Professor Dr. Wichit Srisa-an Building.
On this occasion, Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong delivered a eulogy, stating that, “Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother was the Mother of the Land (Mae Haeng Paendin), who devoted Her body, intellect, and heart to performing numerous royal duties for the happiness and well-being of the people, as well as preserving and promoting Thai arts and culture, and sustainably supporting occupations so that the public can be self-reliant.”
Subsequently, Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong led the executives to sign the book of condolences in front of the royal portrait of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother. The university also announced that a service point for staff to sign the book of condolences will be open every working day at the Central Hall, 2nd floor, Professor Dr. Wichit Srisa-an Building, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The university requests all staff to wear mourning attire, refrain from organizing recreational activities within the university, and note that flags will be flown at half-mast during this period of grief.
