On May 6, 2026, Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, along with the executive team, warmly welcomed over 3,500 parents of new students at the “2026 Orientation and Welcome Ceremony for New Students’ Parents.” The event, held at the Main Auditorium (Thaiburi Building), Lecture Hall 5, and Lecture Hall 3, aimed to reinforce parents’ confidence in choosing Walailak University—a world-class institution.
Professor Dr. Sombat delivered a special keynote address titled “Walailak 2026: A World-Class University and Our Commitment to Student Care.” He highlighted the university’s rapid development, noting that Walailak University is currently ranked 1201+ globally and 6th in Thailand by the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026. Furthermore, the university has secured the #1 Green University spot in Southern Thailand for six consecutive years, according to the UI Greenmetric World University Rankings 2025. The President also emphasized the university’s teaching reform aligned with the United Kingdom Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF). Walailak University boasts the highest number of UKPSF-certified faculty members in Thailand, totaling 803 instructors. Key educational highlights include English-medium instruction by international faculty and state-of-the-art Smart Classrooms.
